Facilitator’s Comprehensive Guide – Discipleship Group Physical Meeting

Facilitator’s Comprehensive Guide – Discipleship Group Physical Meeting

Date: 08/08/2025
Facilitator: Angie Ng

1. Warm Welcome & Fellowship Greeting

*"Good morning, dear brothers and sisters in Christ. Praise the Lord for blessing us with this beautiful day to gather in person once again. There is something very special about meeting physically — being able to see one another’s smiles, shake hands, and share real fellowship.

Psalm 133:1 says, ‘Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brethren dwell together in unity.’ We are here to worship God, to learn from His Word, to share our lives, and to encourage one another in our faith journey.

Today, our program will include Bible Journaling sharing, last Sunday’s sermon summary on Authenticity by Reverend Aaron Liu, reflection questions, and of course, our fellowship lunch together.

Let us open our hearts to be present in this time, ready to share, listen, and grow together."*

2. Opening Prayer

*"Let us pray.

Our gracious Heavenly Father, we come before Thee with thankful hearts. Thank Thee for keeping each one of us safe and for granting us the joy of meeting again as a family in Christ. We are especially grateful for last Sunday’s message on Authenticity by Reverend Aaron Liu — a timely reminder to live with sincerity, integrity, and truth before Thee and others.

As we meet today, we pray for Thy Holy Spirit to be present among us — to guide our sharing, to open our ears and hearts, and to inspire us to respond with obedience and love. Bless our fellowship, our discussions, and even the meal we will share later. We commit all into Thy hands. In Jesus’ precious name we pray. Amen."*

3. Hymns / Songs (Facilitator leads or appoints song leader)

"Let us now lift our voices in worship to prepare our hearts."
Suggested hymns:

  1. Great is Thy Faithfulness – to remind us of God’s steadfast love.

  2. Blessed Assurance – declaring our faith and hope in Christ.

  3. What a Friend We Have in Jesus – reflecting on prayer and God’s closeness.

4. Bible Journaling Sharing – Psalms 111–115

Facilitator’s Remarks Before Sharing:
*"One of the joys of our group is seeing how each of us engages with Scripture personally through Bible Journaling. This is more than reading — it’s a conversation with God through His Word.

As we share from Psalms 111 to 115, I encourage everyone to be open and honest. Tell us not only what the passage says, but what it meant to you personally. If you struggled with a verse, share that too — because your struggle might bless someone else who is facing the same thing.

We will follow this format:

  1. Summary of the Psalm

  2. Key Scripture that spoke to you

  3. Reflection — what it revealed about God, yourself, or life

  4. Response — how you will apply it or pray over it

Let’s begin. Who would like to share first?"*

While Members Share:

  • Nod, make eye contact, and affirm with “Amen” or “Thank you for sharing.”

  • Ask gentle prompts:

    • “What about this verse stood out to you?”

    • “How do you see yourself applying this in the coming week?”

    • “Does anyone else have a similar reflection?”

Encouragement Midway:
"I love hearing how the same Psalm speaks differently to each of us — this shows how alive and personal God’s Word is."

5. Sermon Summary – Mrs Chu

(Facilitator introduces)
"Last Sunday, Reverend Aaron Liu brought us a message on Authenticity from 1 Thessalonians 2:1–12. Mrs Chu will now give us a summary of the key points so we can reflect and discuss together."

6. Reflection & Discussion (Based on Sermon)

Facilitator Reads Each Question and Encourages Sharing:

  1. In what areas of your life do you feel pressured to present a polished version of yourself rather than your true self?
Remark: “We live in a world that often values appearance over reality. But God desires truth in the inward parts (Psalm 51:6). When we share honestly, we make space for God’s grace to be seen.”

  2. Reflecting on your own life, when have you felt most authentic in your faith, and what contributed to that experience?
Remark: “Authenticity often shines through most when we are in trials, when we rely completely on God.”

  3. How can you ensure your motives in sharing your faith align with God’s approval rather than human praise?
Remark: “Colossians 3:23 reminds us to work ‘as unto the Lord.’ Our service is for an audience of One.”

  4. What practical ways can you share your life along with the gospel in your daily interactions?
Remark: “Sometimes the gospel is first heard through kindness, listening, and walking alongside someone before they hear a single Bible verse from us.”

(Facilitator prompts multiple people to answer each question to get diverse responses.)

7. Facilitator’s Encouragement Before Lunch

"Friends, today’s sharing reminds us that authenticity and living out the Word go hand in hand. May we carry this into our workplaces, homes, and communities. Remember, people are drawn to Christ when they see His truth in our lives."

8. Thanksgiving for Food & Contributors

"Before we head to lunch, I want to thank each person who has contributed food, drinks, and effort for today’s meal. Your generosity and love are a tangible expression of God’s provision. This table before us is more than just physical food — it’s fellowship food for our souls as well."

9. Grace Before Meal (Facilitator prays)

"Heavenly Father, thank Thee for these blessings, for the hands that prepared them, and for the opportunity to enjoy them together. May this meal strengthen us physically, and may our continued fellowship strengthen us spiritually. In Jesus’ name. Amen."

10. Lunch Fellowship

  • Encourage conversation and relationship building.

  • Suggest sharing one personal praise or prayer request with someone at the table.

11. Closing Session

  • Invite Arthur to lead the Closing Prayer.

  • Invite Sis Ai Leng to lead The Lord’s Prayer.

Closing Prayer (Arthur):
"Our gracious Father, thank Thee for this blessed time of fellowship, for the Word that was shared, and for the hearts that were encouraged. As we leave this place, help us to live authentically, walking in integrity and love. Bless our week ahead, and keep us close to Thee. In Jesus’ name, Amen."

The Lord’s Prayer – Led by Sis Ai Leng (All recite together)
