Introduction
引言
Jesus began the Sermon on the Mount by teaching the Beatitudes, revealing the character of true disciples of Christ. Christians are called to live differently from the world — with humility, mercy, righteousness, peacemaking, and love.
耶稣在登山宝训中，以八福开始祂的教导，显明真正基督门徒应有的品格。基督徒被呼召活出与世界不同的生命，包括谦卑、怜悯、公义、使人和睦以及爱。
After describing the inward qualities of a disciple, Jesus then calls His followers to become the “salt of the earth” and the “light of the world.” Christians are meant to influence the world positively, preserving goodness, bringing hope, and reflecting the love of Christ through both actions and the message of the Gospel.
在描述门徒内在生命素质之后，耶稣接着呼召祂的跟随者成为“世上的盐”和“世上的光”。基督徒应当积极影响世界，保存良善、带来盼望，并透过行动和福音信息彰显基督的爱。
The sermon reminds us that every believer is called to shine brightly for Christ in our families, workplaces, church, and community.

Salt and Light Describe the Disciple’s Influence as a Witness That Shines
盐与光代表门徒作为发光见证人的影响力
Jesus uses two powerful metaphors: salt and light.
耶稣用了两个强而有力的比喻：盐与光。
Salt preserves and slows decay. Christians are called to slow moral and spiritual decay in society by living lives of integrity, compassion, and holiness.
盐能够防腐，减缓腐坏。基督徒被呼召以正直、怜悯和圣洁的生命，减缓社会道德与属灵上的败坏。
Light brings clarity, hope, guidance, and warmth. Christians are called to reflect the light of Christ through love, kindness, encouragement, and sharing the Gospel.
光带来清晰、盼望、引导和温暖。基督徒被呼召透过爱心、善良、鼓励和分享福音来反映基督的光。
Our good deeds must always point people to Jesus. We are not only called to do good works, but also to become witnesses of Christ’s saving grace.
我们的善行必须把人带向耶稣。我们不仅被呼召行善，也被呼召成为基督救恩恩典的见证人。
The sermon highlighted examples of people who became salt and light through patience, forgiveness, mentorship, encouragement, and emotional support during difficult times.
信息中也提到许多例子，有些人在艰难时期透过忍耐、饶恕、陪伴、鼓励和情感支持，成为别人的盐与光。
What Causes Christians to Become Ineffective as Salt and Light?
什么会使基督徒失去盐与光的功效？
2.1 Contamination and Assimilation
2.1 污染与同化
When Christians compromise with worldly values, they lose their distinctiveness and spiritual effectiveness. Like salt mixed with impurities, believers lose their influence when they become spiritually lukewarm.
当基督徒向世界价值观妥协时，他们就会失去属灵的分别与影响力。正如掺杂杂质的盐会失去味道，信徒属灵冷淡时也会失去见证能力。
2.2 Isolation

Salt is useful only when it is applied. Christians cannot isolate themselves from society. We are called to engage people, build relationships, and bring God’s love into the world around us.
盐只有在使用时才有价值。基督徒不能与社会隔离，我们被呼召去接触人群、建立关系，并把神的爱带进周围的世界。
2.3 Living for Ourselves Instead of Others

The Christian life is not self-centered. We are called to love, serve, encourage, and journey with others. God blesses us so that we may become a blessing to others.
基督徒的生命不应以自我为中心。我们被呼召去爱人、服事人、鼓励人，并陪伴他人同行。神赐福给我们，是为了使我们成为别人的祝福。

When believers stop following Christ wholeheartedly and begin speaking, behaving, and thinking like the world, they lose their witness and effectiveness.
当信徒不再全心跟随基督，而开始像世界一样说话、行为和思想时，他们便失去了见证和影响力。
Drawing Strength from Christ, the True Light
从真正的光——基督那里得着力量
Jesus is the true Light of the world. We cannot shine using our own strength alone. We must remain connected to Christ daily through prayer, worship, Scripture, and dependence on the Holy Spirit.
耶稣是真正的世界之光。我们不能单靠自己的力量发光，必须每天透过祷告、敬拜、读经以及依靠圣灵，与基督保持连接。
The sermon reflected on John Wesley and his Aldersgate experience on 24 May 1738, where his “heart was strangely warmed.” Though he was already a priest, he needed a spiritual reset and a personal assurance of salvation.
信息中也提到约翰卫斯理于1738年5月24日的“奥德门街经历”，当时他感到“心里火热”。虽然他已是牧师，但他仍需要属灵上的更新，以及对救恩真实的确据。
Likewise, believers today may experience spiritual dryness, discouragement, or exhaustion. God can renew and reignite our hearts again.

The Church Is Called to Be a Welcoming, Transforming, and Sending Church

Application 1: Reach Out and Build Relationships
应用一：主动接触并建立关系
The church is called to welcome people warmly, build relationships, and pray for opportunities to reach the unsaved. Outreach ministries and community events become opportunities for people to encounter God’s love.
教会被呼召以热情欢迎人、建立关系，并祷告寻求机会接触未信者。外展事工和社区活动能够成为人们经历神爱的机会。
Application 2: Lifestyle Evangelism
应用二：生活化福音见证
People want to see authentic Christian living. Christians are called to become peacemakers, encouragers, compassionate listeners, and examples of Christ-like love in daily life.
人们渴望看见真实的基督徒生命。基督徒被呼召在日常生活中成为使人和睦的人、鼓励人的人、有怜悯心的倾听者，并活出基督般的爱。
Application 3: Draw Strength from God
应用三：从神那里得着力量
Believers must rely on God’s power and inspiration daily. “Do your best, and God will do the rest.” God is the source of our strength, endurance, and spiritual energy.
信徒必须每天依靠神的能力与带领。“尽你所能，剩下的交给神。” 神是我们力量、忍耐与属灵动力的源头。

God has called every believer to become the salt of the earth and the light of the world. Through our words, actions, love, encouragement, and sharing of the Gospel, we become witnesses that shine in a dark and hurting world.
神呼召每位信徒成为世上的盐和世上的光。透过我们的言语、行为、爱心、鼓励以及分享福音，我们在黑暗和受伤的世界中成为发光的见证。
We must remain connected to Christ, the true Light, so that our lives may reflect His hope, compassion, and salvation to others.

Freely we have received; therefore, freely we give our lives back to God in service and love.

There are many people whom God uses as “salt and light” in our lives. Sometimes it is through a loving parent, a caring church member, a faithful pastor, or a patient friend who stood beside us during difficult moments. Their encouragement, prayers, kindness, and Christ-like love helped us experience God personally and grow closer to Him.
神常使用许多人在我们的生命中成为“盐与光”。有时候是一位慈爱的父母、关怀人的教会弟兄姐妹、忠心的牧者，或是在困难时陪伴我们的朋友。他们的鼓励、祷告、善良和基督般的爱，帮助我们真实经历神，并更加亲近祂。
What are the challenges of being salt and light to others?
成为别人生命中的盐与光，会面对哪些挑战？
Being salt and light is not always easy. Sometimes people may misunderstand us, criticize us unfairly, reject our kindness, or take advantage of our patience. Journeying with difficult people requires endurance, wisdom, forgiveness, and unconditional love. At times we may feel discouraged or emotionally tired, but God strengthens us to continue shining for Him.
成为盐与光并不容易。有时候人们会误解我们、不公平地批评我们、拒绝我们的善意，甚至利用我们的忍耐。陪伴困难的人需要忍耐、智慧、饶恕和无条件的爱。有时我们会感到灰心和疲惫，但神会赐力量让我们继续为祂发光。
Share your own journey where you had been effective or ineffective as salt and light to others.
分享你曾经在别人生命中有效或失去功效作为盐与光的经历。
There are moments when we have reflected Christ well through kindness, patience, listening, encouragement, and prayer. However, there are also times when we failed through anger, selfishness, pride, compromise, or silence when we should have spoken hope into someone’s life. These experiences remind us to depend more deeply on God’s grace and strength daily.
有些时候，我们透过善良、耐心、倾听、鼓励和祷告，很好地活出了基督。但也有时候，我们因愤怒、自私、骄傲、妥协，或在该鼓励别人时保持沉默，而失去了见证。这些经历提醒我们每天更加依靠神的恩典和力量。
Discuss the present efforts of our Church to reach out. Are these initiatives impactful beyond our congregation?
讨论教会目前的外展事工。这些事工是否对教会以外的人产生影响？
Church outreach ministries such as healing rallies, Alpha programs, community events, seniors’ activities, visitation ministries, and acts of compassion are important ways the church becomes salt and light in the community. These ministries help people feel welcomed, loved, supported, and introduced to the Gospel. The church should continue building authentic relationships and creating opportunities for people outside the congregation to encounter Christ personally.
教会的外展事工，例如医治布道会、启发课程、社区活动、乐龄活动、探访事工以及怜悯行动，都是教会在社区中成为盐与光的重要方式。这些事工帮助人们感受到被欢迎、被爱与被支持，并有机会接触福音。教会应继续建立真实关系，并创造机会让教会外的人亲自遇见基督。
