Journal Matthew 25-28

 📖 Bible Journal: Matthew 25–28
Matthew Chapter 25

1) Summary

Jesus shares three powerful teachings about readiness and accountability. The parable of the ten virgins emphasizes being prepared for His return. The parable of the talents teaches faithfulness in using what God has entrusted to us. Finally, Jesus describes the final judgment, where people are separated like sheep and goats based on how they treated “the least of these.”

Key Scripture

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
— Matthew 25:40

2) Reflection

This chapter reminds me that my faith is not passive. It is revealed through how I live, serve, and respond to others. Am I spiritually prepared, or have I become complacent?

The way I treat others—especially the needy and overlooked—is a reflection of my relationship with Christ.

3) Response

Lord, keep my heart awake and ready for You. Help me to be faithful with what You have given me and to serve others with love and compassion, seeing You in them.

Matthew Chapter 26

1) Summary

The plot to arrest Jesus unfolds. A woman anoints Jesus with expensive perfume, demonstrating deep love and devotion. Judas agrees to betray Jesus. At the Last Supper, Jesus institutes the Lord’s Supper. In Gethsemane, He prays in deep anguish yet submits to the Father’s will. Jesus is then arrested, and Peter denies Him three times.

Key Scripture

“My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”
— Matthew 26:39

2) Reflection

Jesus’ obedience in suffering challenges me deeply. Even in pain and fear, He chose God’s will over His own.

I see myself in Peter too—wanting to be faithful, yet failing under pressure. This reminds me of my need for grace.

3) Response

Father, teach me to surrender to Your will, even when it is difficult. Strengthen me in moments of weakness and restore me when I fall, just as You restored Peter.

Matthew Chapter 27

1) Summary

Jesus is brought before Pilate, condemned, and crucified. Judas, filled with remorse, takes his own life. Jesus is mocked, beaten, and nailed to the cross. Darkness covers the land, and Jesus dies. The temple curtain is torn, symbolizing access to God. Jesus is buried, and guards are placed at His tomb.

Key Scripture

“Truly he was the Son of God!”
— Matthew 27:54

2) Reflection

The cross reveals both the depth of human sin and the greatness of God’s love. Jesus endured suffering, rejection, and death for me.

It is easy to read this chapter quickly, but it calls me to pause and truly grasp the cost of my salvation.

3) Response

Lord Jesus, thank You for the sacrifice You made for me. Help me never take the cross for granted. May my life reflect gratitude, humility, and devotion to You.

Matthew Chapter 28

1) Summary

Jesus rises from the dead, defeating sin and death. The women discover the empty tomb and encounter the risen Christ. The guards are bribed to spread a false story. Jesus appears to His disciples and gives the Great Commission—to go, make disciples, baptize, and teach all nations. He promises to be with them always.

Key Scripture

“And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
— Matthew 28:20

2) Reflection

The resurrection is the foundation of my faith. It brings hope, victory, and assurance that Jesus is alive.

The Great Commission reminds me that my faith is not meant to be kept to myself—I am called to share it and live it out.

3) Response

Risen Lord, thank You for the hope of new life. Help me to live boldly as Your witness. Give me courage to share Your love and truth, knowing that You are always with me.
