Reigning Christ, Risen People Revelation 1:4–8 Rev. Aaron Liu
Reigning Christ, Risen People
Scripture: Revelation 1:4–8
Preacher: Rev. Aaron Liu
Date: Sunday, 27 April
Introduction:
Reverend Aaron opened with a powerful reminder that Christ reigns not only in eternity but in our present struggles. The risen Jesus speaks to a broken world with authority, offering grace and peace to His people.
1. Grace and Peace from God
(Revelation 1:4–5a)
Rev. Aaron emphasized that grace is God's strength in our weakness and peace is His presence in our chaos.
-
Grace meets us exactly where we are—wounded, tired, or confused.
-
Peace holds us when everything around us feels like it's falling apart.
These are not mere words but active realities for every believer. We are never alone; God’s grace and peace accompany us through every storm.
2. Kingdom and Priests Now
(Revelation 1:5b–7)
We are not just waiting for heaven—we are already part of Christ’s kingdom and called to be priests now, representing Him in the world.
-
The cross has freed us from sin.
-
The resurrection empowers us to live boldly.
-
The promise of His return fuels our urgency and hope.
Rev. Aaron called us to live out our priestly identity: interceding, serving, and witnessing in our communities with conviction.
3. Alpha and Omega Always
(Revelation 1:8)
Christ is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end—but more than that, He is present in every chapter of our lives.
-
Even when life seems chaotic or directionless, Jesus remains sovereign.
-
He is not a distant God but an ever-present Lord who holds our past, present, and future.
Take-Home Message:
Rev. Aaron closed with a call to reflect and respond:
-
In suffering, see Christ's grace and peace with you.
-
In your daily life, step into your priestly role—serve, love, and represent Jesus.
-
In light of His return, live with urgency and purpose, seeking deeper spiritual maturity and boldness in faith.
Reflections:
1. How does understanding grace and peace as Christ’s presence during our struggle change your perspective on difficulties?
Reflection Answer:
Understanding grace and peace as Christ’s active presence in my life reframes how I see challenges. Instead of feeling abandoned or overwhelmed, I’m reminded that I’m never facing trials alone. His grace gives me strength when I’m weak, and His peace calms the chaos in my mind and heart. It helps me endure with hope, trust in His timing, and see struggles as opportunities for spiritual growth and deeper dependence on Him.
2. How can you step into your priestly role in your community this week?
Reflection Answer:
I can step into my priestly role by being an intercessor, encourager, and witness in my community. This week, I plan to pray intentionally for a friend who is struggling, offer help to someone in need, and speak a word of encouragement or share a scripture with someone who feels hopeless. Living as a priest means representing God’s love and truth where I am—at home, at work, and in every conversation.
𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸:
-
Pray intentionally for specific people or needs in your community.
-
Encourage someone who’s going through a tough time, either with words, scripture, or acts of kindness.
-
Lead a devotion or start a spiritual conversation with someone.
-
Volunteer in a church, shelter, or outreach program.
-
Model Christlike behavior at work, home, or in your circle—be honest, kind, forgiving, and compassionate.
💡 Reflection: “Lord, help me to live as thy priest today—not behind a pulpit, but among the people. May my words and actions bring others closer to You.”
3. In light of His promise to return, how can you cultivate urgency in your spiritual journey?
Reflection Answer:
To cultivate urgency, I must live with eternal perspective—realizing that time is short and Christ could return any day. That means prioritizing spiritual disciplines like prayer, reading the Word, and serving others with intentionality. I want to eliminate distractions that dull my passion and invest in things that matter for God’s Kingdom. Urgency calls me to live faithfully today, not wait for a “better” time to obey or share the gospel.
3. In light of His promise to return, how can you cultivate urgency in your spiritual journey?
Jesus’ promise to return is not just a distant hope—it's a call to live with purpose today. The Bible reminds us that “the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night” (1 Thessalonians 5:2), meaning we won’t get a countdown. We must live like He could return at any moment.
How to Cultivate Urgency (Without Waiting for the Last Minute):
-
Start Now, Not Tomorrow
Don’t delay spiritual commitments—pray, read the Word, serve, forgive, repent now. Waiting for a “better time” is a deception that leads to spiritual stagnation. -
Live with Eternal Perspective
Ask daily: Does this matter in eternity? Let that guide your choices, priorities, and relationships. -
Make Time for God Non-Negotiable
Just like you wouldn’t miss an important meeting, commit to daily time with God—Scripture, prayer, and worship. -
Share the Gospel Boldly
Someone you know may not have tomorrow. Don’t be silent about the hope you have in Christ. -
Keep Short Accounts
Don’t let anger, sin, or bitterness linger. Confess and make things right quickly. Be spiritually “ready” always. -
Be Watchful and Disciplined
Avoid spiritual laziness or distractions. Stay alert and actively involved in what God is doing around you.
Reflection: “Lord, help me live with urgency—not in fear, but in faithful anticipation of Your return. Let me not waste time, but invest every day in what matters for Thy Kingdom.”
