Summary Article (5 Minutes Read)

This Mother's Day, the sermon delivered a heartfelt and powerful message titled “Kingdom-Driven Mother For Life,” reminding us that the role of a mother is not only biological but also deeply spiritual and missional. Drawing from Titus 2:3–5, the sermon highlighted God’s vision for mothers in the Kingdom of God — to nurture, disciple, and live in a way that protects the reputation of the gospel.

“Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.”Titus 2:4–5 NIV

1. Spiritually Matured Older Mothers (Titus 2:3–4a)

Older women are called to live reverently, modelling Christ-like behavior with dignity and discipline.

  • Reverence means living as if you're always standing before God.

  • Avoid slander, addictive behaviors, and instead teach what is good — become spiritual mentors to younger mothers.

2. Encouraging and Training the Young Mothers (Titus 2:4b–5d)

God calls every mother to be:

a. A Home Builder

  • Mother is the best and God-empowered person to create a godly, loving home.

  • Her presence, tone, and rhythm shape the family culture.

b. A Children Lover

  • A mother’s love is unconditional, warm, and constant — like your closest friend and your best cheerleader.

  • She corrects and teaches out of love, even when it's hard.

c. A Husband Lover

  • A godly mother supports her husband’s calling and leadership from God.

  • She is affectionate, respectful, and a spiritual ally.

  • God’s order in the home: Christ → Husband → Wife → Children — not hierarchy for power, but divine protection.

d. A God-Lover

  • Mothers must be adorned with self-control, purity, and kindness — a reflection of Christ within the home.

3. Why This Matters

When mothers live out their calling as described in Titus 2, they uphold the reputation of the gospel in a culture that often rejects biblical family roles. A godly home is a light that points to Christ’s love and order.

Reflection and Discussion Responses

1. Church:

How has the reputation of the word of God been affected because of our weak homes? How can the church empower older Titus Two women (and men) to serve?

Yes, when families crumble, people question the power of God’s Word. Weak homes create weak testimonies. The church can intentionally train and commission older women and men to mentor the younger generation, build intergenerational discipleship, and celebrate faithful parenting as ministry.

2. Parents:

What has lured your mind away from home? What is one thing you need to do to reclaim the God-given parental authority and roles?

For many, it’s work stress, digital distractions, or cultural expectations. One immediate action is to reclaim family devotion time, set tech-free dinner conversations, and ask God to realign our identity as spiritual leaders at home.

3. Kids:

What is one thing (addiction) that takes away your time from showing love and obeying your parents? How can you show more obedience to Mum this week?

Many children struggle with phone and gaming addiction. This week, show love by setting a goal: one hour daily without screens, helping with house chores, and writing Mum a thank-you note. Obedience is love in action.

Final Word

Mothers are not just caregivers — they are Kingdom builders, disciple-makers, and guardians of the gospel in the home. Let us honor them and support them as they live out God’s calling. Happy Mother’s Day!
