Journal 1 Peter 1 to 5
🙏 Opening Prayer
Heavenly Father,
We come before Thee with hearts full of thanksgiving. Thank Thee, Lord, for gathering us together this day in fellowship, unity, and in pursuit of Thy truth. We praise Thee for Thy grace and mercy that awakens our spirit and draws us closer to Thee.
O Lord, how grateful we are for this divine opportunity to sit under the teaching of Thy Word. We thank Thee for the faithful servants—Reverends, Pastors, and Elders—whom Thou hast anointed and appointed to shepherd Thy people. Bless them abundantly for their dedication, wisdom, and unwavering love for Thy Church.
Father, open our ears to hear Thee, soften our hearts to receive Thee, and ignite within us a holy fire to live revived lives. May this time of learning and reflection glorify Thee and bring transformation to our souls.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour, we pray,
Amen.
📖 1 Peter Chapter 1
Summary:
Peter encourages believers to live in hope and holiness. He reminds them of their new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus, and calls them to be holy in all they do.
Key Scripture:
1 Peter 1:15 – "But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation."
Reflection:
God's call to holiness isn't about perfection, but separation—being set apart in attitude and action. It’s a response to the immeasurable grace we've received.
Response:
I will examine areas of my life where I may be compromising and intentionally choose to reflect God’s character in my thoughts, speech, and actions.
📖 1 Peter Chapter 2
Summary:
Peter describes believers as living stones, a royal priesthood, and urges them to live honorably among unbelievers. He also teaches submission to authority for the Lord’s sake.
Key Scripture:
1 Peter 2:9 – "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people..."
Reflection:
My identity in Christ elevates my purpose. I’m not ordinary; I’m chosen to represent God's light in a dark world.
Response:
Today, I will live with the awareness that I am part of God's holy nation. I will strive to live with integrity and humility, even when it’s hard.
📖 1 Peter Chapter 3
Summary:
This chapter speaks on godly relationships, especially in marriage, and encourages believers to suffer for doing good if needed. Peter highlights the importance of a gentle, respectful witness.
Key Scripture:
1 Peter 3:15 – "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer... with meekness and fear."
Reflection:
Witnessing doesn’t need to be loud or argumentative; it flows best from a heart set apart for Christ and a life lived with grace.
Response:
I will be ready to explain my faith with kindness and respect, and let my life demonstrate Christ’s love.
📖 1 Peter Chapter 4
Summary:
Peter urges believers to live for God, not for human desires. He prepares them for suffering and encourages them to use their gifts for God’s glory.
Key Scripture:
1 Peter 4:10 – "As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another..."
Reflection:
Every ability I have is a stewardship. My spiritual gifts aren’t mine to boast about, but to serve others in love.
Response:
I will intentionally use my time and talents to bless others and glorify God, especially within my community or church.
📖 1 Peter Chapter 5
Summary:
Peter exhorts elders to shepherd the flock willingly, and all believers to clothe themselves with humility. He reminds us to cast our cares on God and be vigilant because the devil seeks to devour.
Key Scripture:
1 Peter 5:7 – "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you."
Reflection:
No burden is too small or big for God. His care is active, attentive, and constant—even when I feel alone.
Response:
Instead of worrying, I will bring my concerns to God in prayer, trusting He is both willing and able to carry them.
